Visit Concarneau: its beaches and port
The beaches of Le Cabellou
Far from the town center and harbor, these beaches are Concarneau’s best preserved and most beautiful. They offer an idyllic setting for swimming. Separated by rocks, they retain their wild, natural charm. The Fort du Cabellou, built to protect the town from sea invasions, bears witness to the fascinating history of this area.
Corniche beaches
The beaches along the Corniche de Concarneau offer breathtaking views over the Bay of Concarneau. Stroll along the corniche to the charming Ville Close.
The white sand beaches
The Sables Blancs beach is on the other side of Concarneau, just opposite the Thalasso, an ideal place to spend a lively moment in a slightly more urbanized area. The GR34 also runs along this coast, offering a superb walk to La Forêt – Fouesnant.

Concarneau: a stroll through the Ville-Close and its ramparts
Built on an islet, the Ville-Close is a fortified city dating from the 15ᵉ and 16ᵉ centuries and reworked in the 19ᵉ century by Vauban. It is the historic heart of Concarneau. The Ville-Close, with its imposing fortifications, sits majestically at the heart of the town’s fishing and yachting harbors. At the entrance to the Ville-Close, you’ll find the belfry built in the early 1900s, which has since become the emblem of Concarneau.
Surrounded by ramparts, Concarneau’s Ville-Close and its winding cobbled streets are littered with restaurants, art stores and friendly cafés. It’s one of Brittany’s most visited sites, with over 1.5 million visitors a year.
You have several access options:
- on foot / by bike: about 2.5 km on foot or by bike, then take the Passage ferry (smallest cruise in the world; fee payable),
- by car,
- by the Coralie bus line, which passes in front of the campsite.
